If you are interested in purchasing a home but not sure where to start, The Mon Valley Initative will be hosting a Free Housing Workshop from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17 at 305 East 8th Avenue in Homestead.
Get answers to homeownership questions:
• What home price can I afford?
• What if I have credit problems?
• What if I had a bankruptcy?
• What if I have no credit?
• What are closing costs?
• How do I know if I can qualify for a loan?
• How do I find the best interest rate?
• What types of loans are available to me?
• What are “ratios” that bankers talk about?
All participants who successfully complete this Housing and Urban Development curriculum will receive a certificate which is required to obtain homes through various community development programs.
Participants will have the opportunity at the event to have their credit reports reviewed by a certified housing counselor and tour MVI rehabilitated homes.
I will be at the presentation to answer questions and provide information about the home buying process. In addition, myself and another agent will be available to take interested parties on a house tour of several MVI homes that are available for purchase.
Other topics covered at the seminar will include budgeting to purchase a home, shopping for a home loan, closing procedures and home maintenance. Attendees will also have the opportunity to schedule face-to-face appointments with MVI’s NeighborWorks® and Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency certified housing counselor and get information on upcoming MVI home construction.
A light breakfast and lunch as well as free parking will be provided. For more information and registration, call MVI’s Housing Counselor Mike Mauer at: 412-464-4000 x 4008 or visit www.monvalleyinitiative.com.
